KABBA-ABAJANA ROAD

November 30, 1999 Latest Updates by Administrator

Contractors handling the Kabba township road project in Kogi will resume work soon, the Resident Engineer in charge of the project, Esther Aloko, has said. Aloko told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in a telephone interview on Wednesday in Lokoja that the state government was not owing the contractors.

According to her, the work was stopped due to the rains and issues raised by contractors handling other township road projects in the state.

``The money paid to contractors handling the Kabba roads was enough to take the project to a large extent,” she said.

Aloko explained that the state government was negotiating with contractors handling other township roads on how to raise fresh funds to pay them.

``We believe that if we do not stop work, other contractors might not be able to get their money,” she said.
